About Emily
I am a graduate of Luther College in Decorah, IA with a degree in English. In September, I got a job working in the marketing department at a local convenience store and now I work in human resources and training for the same company. In my spare time, I like to knit, cook, and bake. Other than that, I have a passion for music and played clarinet in the top band at Luther! I love my clarinet and even started out as a music major, but decided that wasn’t for me. I also love to read and write and I hope to have a book published sometime in my life. I mostly write stories for young adults since that’s what I loved to read growing up. I hope to inspire other young people to read!
About Andy
Andy has finished two bachelor’s degrees in Marketing and Business administration online through Franklin University. Andy also enjoys bowling and fishing in the summer months. He love seeing new movies, especially action-thrillers and suspense. Most of all, Andy works for his dad who owns a pro-audio store in the area (so you know we’re going to have an awesome dj!) He used to do a bit of DJ-ing for his dad’s company back in his finer, high school days.
How We Met
Andy and I met in early 2006 through an online community. We had a few chats online and became fast friends. Andy was crushing on me but I wasn’t interested because I was sort of seeing someone else at the time. After getting rid of the other guy (who was obviously not right for me), I invited Andy to come to the dance that was happening on campus in April 2006 (I was a freshman in college at the time and Andy was a junior). We had a fantastic time, although the dance turned out to be kind of a bust. Andy wasn’t impressed by the DJ. At one point, Andy went up to request a song and didn’t come back until 10 minutes later because he was helping the DJ mix his sound! I joked that that night I got abandoned for sound equipment (which happens every time we go to a place with a DJ!). Anyway, we left the dance early and got some milkshakes at the cafe on campus and talked for a while. Later we played Yahtzee with a couple of my friends and had a blast! It was definitely his lucky night because he got I think 4 Yahtzees in one game! It must’ve been a sign! He left late that night and when we said good-bye.... all I got was a handshake! I was disappointed that I didn’t at least get a hug! About an hour after he left, as I was trying to fall asleep, I couldn’t stop thinking about him and knew I had to see him again! And then the fire alarm went off in my dorm building so I had to wake up again!
Three days later, he came back and we had our first official date! He took me to the local pizza joint and then we went to a dark lawn on campus and watched the stars. We had a thumb war (which he said was an excuse to hold my hand!) and were generally silly together. Then he kissed me (my first real kiss!!) and the rest was history! He kept coming back to see me and, even though he said I love you first, I knew it was definitely love from our first date! We knew it was special when we made it through a whole summer of being 2 ½ hours apart and only seeing each other once a week or every other weekend. Almost 4 years later, he asked me to marry him! Now we've been together over 6 years and things are still going strong and we are even more in love now than ever before!
